
What is a Mudra?
The term Mudra has many meanings it is used to create and signify a gesture with the hands. However there are positions of the body, eyes and specific breathing techniques that are also called mudras.
Where do Mudras originate from?
Mudra origin is a mystery and they are not specific to Asia as you may imagine they have been and still are used all around the world during many rituals and ceromonies.
How to practice a Mudra
Mudras can be practiced any time any place any where, seated, lying down or walking….
1. Atmanjali Mudra/prayer


When this Mudra is adopted it helps to calm the thoughts and bring clarity into the mind it also works as a mind stabiliser. It helps build Strength internally and externally.

2. Chin Mudra/ Gyan Mudra

This Mudra is associated with Knowledge and wisdom of the higher self. When adopting this mudra you may touch the tip of the index finger with the thumb to create a softer more passive Mudra or to really activate the Mudra rest the pad of the thumb on the nail of the index finger, you will automatically feel the strength and the difference when adopting the second position.

3. Hakini Mudra

Adopting this Mudra assists in helping to open Ajna Chakra the 3rd eye point. It will benefit concentration especially when the mind is busy or racing around. Use this Mudra to help with focus. You may want to visualise Ajna Chakra while you hold Hakini Mudra.

4. Uttarabodhi Mudra


Uttarabodhi Mudra works on helping you gain highest enlightenment, the index fingers maybe touching fully or slightly apart as shown. An extremely powerful Mudra

The universe and me, me and the universe are one (if you prefer you may substitute the word universe for God, cosmos or whatever feels right for you)
5. Matangi Mudra

Matangi Mudra while help you gain a true sense of harmony in every way, this is a wonderful mudra to adopt when feeling stressed or if you have trouble sleeping.
